admitted possessing more than five grams of cannabis.

Raymond Schwemmer, 35, of Maryland, pleaded guilty to the offence that occurred on May 22.

Sgt. Phil Taylor prosecuting, said that Police officers conducted a search of Schwemmer's yacht at King's Wharf in Sandys around 10 a.m.

And they discovered two homemade cigarettes, a plastic bag with plant material, cigarette papers and four other partly smoked cigarettes during their search.

The plant material was analysed and found to be cannabis. The four cigarettes contained 1.1 grams of the drug, while the plastic bag had 4.2 grams and the partly smoked cigarettes contained .26 grams of cannabis.

In a Police interview, Schwemmer apologised for the offence.

Magistrate Cheryl Ann Mapp upon learning that he was visiting the Island for his honeymoon said:"I would have thought that you wouldn't need artificial stimulants on your honeymoon. But there we are.'' In a separate case, a 46-year-old American woman was fined $100 for possession of cannabis on Front Street on Tuesday.

The court heard that plain-clothed narcotics officers were near the Flagpole on Front Street at about 11 p.m. and saw Janet Francis Holmes and another woman sitting on a wall.

One of the women was smoking what appeared to be a homemade cigarette and the officers could smell cannabis burning.

They approached the women and showed them their identification. They then saw Holmes attempt to hide the homemade cigarette in a niche in the wall.

They retrieved it and Holmes denied it was hers. As she spoke, the officers noticed the smell of alcohol on her breath and took her to Hamilton Police Station.

Along the way Holmes told the officers she did not know who they were and they showed her their identification again.

She was arrested and the cigarette was analysed and found to contain 0.2 grams of cannabis.
