foot of cliffs at Astwood Cove, committed suicide, a Coroner has ruled.

Coroner Edward King said Mr. Morrison had experienced depression previously and had talked about throwing himself off a cliff.

Mr. King delivered his verdict yesterday following an inquest on Thursday.

Mr. King said evidence had been heard that Mr. Morrison, 41, of Marl Lane, Warwick, telephoned his friend Darlene Simons on June 4 to say he was depressed about a newspaper article and thought he "may as well end it''.

Ms Simons was so worried she contacted Mr. Morrison's mother, Eileen, who went to her son's house but found it was empty.

She later found her son's car parked at Astwood Park car park, Warwick, but was unable to find him.

At 3 p.m. that day, a sight-seer and a tourist spotted Mr. Morrison's body at the foot of the cliffs.

Mr. King said yesterday: "I am satisfied that at the time the deceased spoke to Ms Simons he was in a depressive state and he said to her he was experiencing suicidal thoughts.

"There is nothing to indicate that any party played any other part or was even responsible for the body being where it was.

"There is no doubt that (when) he died on June 4, he put into execution what he harboured in thoughts in previous depressive periods. The deceased committed suicide by jumping off the cliff on June 4.'' Mr. King extended his condolences to Mr. Morrison's family and friends.
