"Customs officers searched a black bag and found a green Newport cigarette box,'' Sgt. Grant said.

He added: "Inside the box officers found two small zip-lock plastic bags containing plant material and a hand-rolled cigarette. The zip-lock bags contained 2.81 grams of cannabis and the rolled cigarette contained .02 grams of cannabis.'' When asked by Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl-Ann Mapp if she had anything to say, Marie replied: "I apologise to the Bermudian court for my ignorance. I took an early morning flight and grabbed the bag. It was not my intention to bring drugs into the Island.'' MAN HAD DRUGS IN CARRY-ON BAG CTS Man had drugs in carry-on bag A 27-year-old Warwick man pleaded guilty to importation of more than half a kilogramme of cannabis.

Harry Ford, represented by lawyer Mr. Timothy Marshall, admitted importing the drugs in a carry-on bag when he arrived from New York on August 25 last year.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said Customs officers searched the bag and discovered a taped package in the bottom.

Ford later admitted he had imported the package containing 533 grams of cannabis with a street value of $26,650.

He told officers he was very sorry and had seen desperate times.

Magistrate the Wor. Edward King adjourned sentencing and ordered a social inquiry report for Ford who has no previous criminal record.

On Monday, a restaurant on Reid Street complained that patrons rang up a large bill and paid with a credit card which was later found to be invalid.

A 15-year-old Pembroke youth was treated for bruising at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and released.

Police are investigating the incident on Middletown Drive.

BAIL FOR CABBIE IN FATAL CRASH CTS Bail for cabbie in fatal crash The 45-year-old Pembroke taxi driver who was involved in the road traffic accident that led to the death of 30-year-old Antonio DeFrias has been placed on Police bail.

A Police spokesperson said that the man was arrested at the scene of the accident in Hamilton Parish on Saturday morning on suspicion of driving while impaired by alcohol. He was put on Police bail until the latter part of June.

During this time Police will be in consultation with the Attorney General's Chambers.

SEARCH FOR CYCLES LEADS TO ARREST CTS Search for cycles leads to arrest A 15-year-old youth was arrested on Monday after Police executed a search warrant for stolen cycles.

The cycle squad officers took the warrant to a house in Sandys, where they recovered the stripped remains of a motor cycle.

The investigation is continuing.

POLICE INVESTIGATE DAYLIGHT BREAK-INS CRM Police investigate daylight break-ins Police were investigating two recent house break-ins.

In the first, an unoccupied Paget house was entered during daytime and cash was stolen, Police said.

In the second, a Pembroke residence was forcibly entered between Monday afternoon and evening. Televisions and other electronic items were stolen.
