Roger Anthony Sanders, from New Jersey, was stopped at the International Airport last Thursday, Magistrates' Court heard.
Prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor said Sanders was searched by Customs officers who found a zip-lock bag containing plant material -- later found to be 2.22 grams of cannabis. They also found cigarette papers.
Sanders, 42, a meat processor, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of cannabis and a charge of possession of drug equipment for the cigarette papers.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined Sanders $250 for possession and $100 for the drug equipment.
