Fast acting detectives have arrested a 20-year-old male in connection with the incident.

The 22-year-old passenger from the Zenith cruise ship told the investigating officers that the assault took place just behind the public toilets in Par-la-Ville Park at 4 a.m. yesterday.

SANDYS WOMAN DISTURBS BURGLAR CRM Sandys woman disturbs burglar A Sandys woman awoke during the early hours of yesterday morning to find a would-be burglar trying to gain entry to her home.

The 29-year-old woman, who lives on Sound View Road, woke around 1.15 a.m. to find that the burglar was halfway through a window when she disturbed him.

Immediately the woman screamed, scaring the man off.

The burglar was able to run away on foot before making his way to a motorcycle which aided his escape.

The suspect is described as a black male with a short haircut and in his early twenties. He was wearing dark-coloured clothing at the time.

Police yesterday reported that they were called to the Emergency Department of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital around 5 p.m. on Monday. When they arrived they found that the victim was being treated for fractures to the arm, a head wound which required 14 stitches, and lacerations to his lips.

The victim alleged that a short while earlier he had been sitting on the roadside at Friswells Road in Devonshire when a vehicle pulled up next to him.

Two men appeared from the car and began to attack him with the metal bats.

After the beating the two men quickly fled the scene.
