King Edward VII Memorial Hospital following a three-vehicle road accident.

Police said the accident took place shortly before 10.30 p.m. on Thursday at Harrington Sound Road in Smith's Parish.

The rider of a Yamaha motorcycle -- who was believed to have been trying to overtake a truck -- collided head-on with a Toyota car which was travelling east.

The cycle then rebounded into the westbound lane and collided with the female victim who was riding behind the truck.

Yesterday the woman was listed in critical condition in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital's Intensive Care Unit.

Pink Beach Club managing director Mr. W.A. (Toppy) Cowen yesterday the prayers of the hotel's employees were with her. The 48-year-old rider of the Yamaha motorcycle was also taken to hospital with head injuries. And the 32-year-old female driver of the car was treated for head and neck injuries, then later released.

Police said "any other witnesses'' who had not come forward -- particularly the truck driver who continued on his journey and "may not have been aware of the accident'' which took place behind him -- should contact P.c. Walter Jackson at the Police Traffic Department on 295-0011.
