over the Cup Match holiday.

Spokesman Insp. Coghlin Gibbons said: "The Police are strongly reminding drivers not to drink and drive at any time, and especially not over the Cup Match holiday period.

Noting that there will be a high number of vehicles on the road and boats on the water, Insp. Gibbons said this posed a "higher potential for accidents''.

"Drinking and driving will only increase this potential,'' he added. "The Police will be fully enforcing the laws prohibiting the driving of vehicles and the operation of boats while impaired by alcohol.'' Insp. Gibbons also issued the following traffic advisory for those planning to attend Cup Match: Parking will be available to the general public at Tiger Bay, Bermuda Electric Light Company's parking lot, St. George's Preparatory School field, and at Mullet Bay Park.

Parking at Penno's Wharf will be for cycles only.

Police will be on hand to direct traffic.

A St. John's Ambulance first aid post will also be set up in the St. George's Cricket Club parking lot, to the west of the clubhouse.

PLAQUE TO BE UNVEILED HOA Plaque to be unveiled Celebrations to mark the 375th anniversary of Parliament move to St. George's today with the unveiling of a plaque, a church service and fireworks display.

Parliament met for the first time on August 1, 1620, in the old thatched roof St. Peter's Church.

Today to commemorate the occasion Parliamentarians past and present are expected to attend an ecumenical service at the modern-day St. Peter's Church.

The Governor, Lord Waddington, is also expected to attend.

After the service a procession will wind its way to State House, Parliament's second meeting place, where a plaque will be unveiled by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Hon. Ernest DeCouto.

As August 1, 1834, also marks the abolition of slavery in Bermuda the annual Emancipation Service will be held at 7 p.m. in the Town Square, featuring the National Dance Theatre of Bermuda, the Choral Dynamics and the Band of the Bermuda Regiment.

After the service there will be different types of entertainment in the Square and Harbour Nights stalls on Ordnance Island. To round the day off there will be a fireworks display staged on Hen Island.

POLICE CATCH THIEVES CRM Police catch bike thieves Police, over the weekend, caught two youths with a stolen cycle.

Officers on duty at Horseshoe Bay in Southampton, last Saturday afternoon, said they saw the youngsters -- a 17-year-old Devonshire male and a 20-year-old Warwick male -- tampering with a parked livery cycle.

Shortly afterward, the officers saw the pair driving another cycle away from the beach parking lot.

The officers said when they tried to stop the two, they rode off.

A vehicle and foot chase ensued and the officers caught the pair.

The stolen cycle, which they were riding, was recovered.

Police inquiries were continuing.
