For the week, April 3-9, some 8,844 visitors came to Bermuda -- 10 percent higher than the 7,991 who arrived over the same period last year.

Of last week's tally, 8,267 came by air, 559 by cruise ship, and 18 by a combination.

Cruise ship occupancy rates were: Southern Cross , 73.55 percent; and Lili Marleen , 36 percent.

So far this year, 68,932 visitors have come to the Island, 2.3 percent fewer than the 1994 figure.
