bloodied teacher and said: "What the f... are you going to do to me now?'' another teacher yesterday told a Family Court.

The testimony came on the second day of the trial of two students -- aged 13 and 15 -- who are charged in connection with a March 4 attack on a Barbadian teacher who was supervising noon-hour access to the school's property at the time. As a result of the attack the teacher received several bruises and cuts to his face and forehead, one requiring 15 stitches to close.

The widely-publicised attack sparked outrage across the community and led to calls by teachers and politicians for increased security at Island schools.

Because of their age however the students -- who have pleaded not guilty to assault causing bodily harm -- cannot be named nor can The Royal Gazette print any material which may directly or indirectly lead to their identification.

That includes the names of witnesses, the school, and the victim.

Meanwhile ZBM yesterday came under fire by Family Court Judge Cheryl Ann Mapp for disclosing the name of school and the victim.

are, decided to report that instead of sticking to the facts of the case -- subsequently ZBM did what it did,'' said Mrs. Mapp, while entertaining a submission by legal counsel for The Royal Gazette seeking clarification of the media restrictions. ZBM's discretion she added, would be taken into account the next time around.

The Crown meanwhile continued its case, calling two co-workers, two students, and one Police officer.

One male co-worker testified he was standing on the school's steps about 30-feet away when the "flash of a bike'' being thrown to the side of a small group of students caught his eye.

The next instant he saw the teacher collapse face first to the ground, making no attempt to break his fall. Rushing to the scene the teacher testified he found his co-worker unconscious with the 15-year-old defendant standing over top of him, questioning: "What the f... are you going to do to me now?'' Another teacher who was walking across the school field at the time said she saw the victim, the 15-year-old student, and another youth engaged in "dialogue'' near the school gate.

Continuing to watch, she told the court the victim had started to head back towards the school when the defendant rode up behind him, grazing him with his pedal cycle.

As the victim stopped and attempted to push him away a confrontation ensued, she testified. At that point the youth then "got into his face'' and swung his fist at the teacher, though she could not say if it connected.

Rushing over to the scene, the witness testified she observed the 13-year-old defendant punch the victim as he was lying unconscious.

A 14-year-old student meanwhile told the court the incident appeared to have escalated after the older defendant, who was "popping wheelies'' on his bike, ran over the teacher's foot.

He testified at that point the victim pushed the youth away while telling him to leave the school grounds. The two faced-off at arm's length before the youth threw a series of fake punches, then kicked the teacher in the side.

The teacher then gripped the youth the witness testified, and while attempting to pull the him to the ground instead appeared to trip himself.

As the teacher was lying on the ground the younger defendant then ran up and kicked him in the side, said the witness.

The trial continues in Family Court on Tuesday afternoon. JoDina Pearman appears for the Crown while Victoria Pearman is acting as defence counsel for the 15-year-old defendant. The younger defendant is being represented by his father.
