Would-be robber remanded

pleaded guilty to the attempted robbery last Christmas of the Bank of Bermuda's Church Street branch.

The Hon. Sir James Astwood also remanded Eugene Hilgrove Ming in custody pending the production of psychiatric and social inquiry reports which were ordered at an earlier hearing.

Ming, 36, was arrested following the December 27 hold-up which went awry when a bank teller pressed an alarm button alerting Police. As they arrived, Ming escaped through a back door.

Sir James ordered the two reports ready for May 13 when he will pass sentence on Ming. Ming was represented by lawyer Mr. Tim Marshall.
