Front Street during a weekend break-in.

Police said the culprits tried to steal an office safe by moving it down the stairs, but failed when the safe got stuck.

They were also unsuccessful in attempts to steal from a filing cabinet.

Police suspect a connection with another break-in that occurred around the same time at the J.B. Astwood building on Front Street.

There, thieves pried open several locked doors and drawers on the first floor, but nothing was stolen.

They then went to the second floor and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the till. Police investigations were continuing.
