Writ filed against ex-PLP MP
Progressive Labour Party MP Julian Hall.
And The Royal Gazette understands that it is a move by Paul Hubbard and John Boden, who recently won a lawsuit against Mr. Hall in Bermuda's Supreme Court for $1.6 million, to have Mr. Hall declared bankrupt.
Mr. Hubbard declined to comment on the matter yesterday and Mr. Hall could not be reached for comment.
Mr. Hubbard's and Mr. Boden's victorious case involved Betty McMahon, the widow of Canadian millionaire Frank McMahon, who died in 1986 at the age of 83 in his Harbour Road, Paget home.
They won the lawsuit against Mr. Hall while acting "as next friends'' of Mrs.
McMahon. Mr. Hall was ordered to pay the full amount filed in the writ -- $1,609,740.63 -- plus simple interest at seven percent by Chief Justice Austin Ward.
Accountants Mr. Hubbard and Mr. Boden are believed to be receivers for the McMahon estate.
