Youth injured in hit-and-run

At 5 a.m. yesterday they were riding a livery cycle east along Middle Road, near Warwick Pond, when they were in a collision with a white station wagon going the other way.
The youngsters, aged 16 and 17, made their way to hospital where they were treated for minor abrasions.

SUSPENDED JAIL TERM FOR RIDER CTS Suspended jail term and rider Banned driver Rodney Leon Burt, of Berkeley Road, Pembroke, received a suspended jail term yesterday at Magistrates' Court after being caught riding along North Shore Road, Pembroke.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis suspended the three month sentence for two years.
Twenty-six-year-old Burt was also fined $400 and given a further two year driving ban, putting him off the road until 1995.
Mr. Francis fined him a further $400 for riding an unlicensed and uninsured bike.
Burt, who has a five-year-old son, pleaded guilty to the three charges.
Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said Police stopped Burt on March 12 for a routine check.
He then ran off, but was soon caught and arrested, added Insp. Duffy.
NEW ROAD BAN FOR DISQUALIFED DRIVER CTS New road ban for disqualified driver Craig Blanchette, of St. George's, was fined $250 and banned a further 18 months yesterday for driving while disqualified.
Blanchette, aged 27, of Aunt Peggy's Lane, pleaded guilty to the charge in Magistrates' Court.
The ban will put the Bermuda College student off the road until August 19, 1994.
Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said Blanchette was caught riding on Parsons Road, Pembroke, on September 9.
Also yesterday, Kendra V. Brown, 16, of Lightbourne Lane, Smith's Parish, was fined $150 and ordered off the road for 12 months after pleading guilty to allowing Blanchette to ride her bike while disqualified.
MAN FINED FOR BOAT OFFENCE CTS Man fined for boat offence Terry Philpott, 31, of Sommersall Road, Smith's Parish, was fined $100 yesterday after pleading guilty at Magistrates' Court to operating a boat without safety gear.
Philpott was stopped by Marine Police in the South Channel in Flatts, on July 22, said Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting.
They searched the vessel, and found there no life jackets on board.
MAN FINED $100 FOR CANNABIS CTS Man fined $100 for cannabis Unemployed Milton Jones, of Smith's Avenue, Warwick, was fined $100 at Magistrates' Court yesterday after admitting possessing 0.21 grammes of cannabis.
Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said Police found the drugs in a yellow envelope at Jones' home on May 28.
Police saw Jones throw the envelope under his bed, and initially claimed the cannabis was not his, added Insp. Duffy.
CYCLIST HURT IN ROAD ACCIDENT AC Cyclist hurt in road accident A cyclist with a ruptured spleen was being operated on last night after a crash on Spice Hill, Warwick. Police said two cycles were involved in the accident.
The injured man was not beleived to be in a grave condition, said a spokesman.
