The taxi driver picked up three youths at Court Street around 8.30 p.m. on Saturday, Police said.

The youths asked to be taken to Happy Valley Road, but on arrival they attacked the driver with a stick and removed his wallet, containing some cash, a pension identification card and credit cards.

The driver sustained some bruising, but his physical injuries were not thought to be serious.
