As cash is stolen from Kalifa Day Care

Burglars stole hundreds of dollars used to take children on outings from a Devonshire nursery school.

Police say that around 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday, they received a report of a burglary at Kalifa Day Care on Roberts Avenue in Devonshire.

Said a Police spokesperson: "The complainant stated that around 7:30 a.m. that day she arrived for work to discover that an unknown culprit had gained entry into the premises. The culprit stole a quantity of cash."

Toni-Lee Ming, a teacher at the day care, says around $400 was stolen from a collection pot they used to take children on outings and buy goodies from the ice cream truck. The nursery services 22 children between 12 months and four years.

Miss Ming said: "I can't even explain it. I am still in shock from that because that was the second time it happened here." The first incident happened in February.

On this occasion Miss Ming arrived at the school at 7.30 a.m. and noticed a cracked window, and paper work strewn all over the place. Food items and a water bottle were also taken from the property. Police inquiries into this incident are underway.
