A man demanding money and brandishing a weapon tried to break into a guest house in Warwick.

Police received a report at 11 p.m. on Wednesday that a man tried to break into the house, but when the male occupant a 48-year-old Canadian man shouted for help he ran off.

Neither the 48-year-old or his 50-year-old wife were injured.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 299-4315 or the confidential Crime Stoppers Hotline on 1-800-623-8477.

Police also received a report of a burglary at a home on West Avenue, Southampton, on Wednesday, when someone broke in while the house was empty. A black Toshiba laptop computer and a pink Casio digital camera were stolen.
