Bermuda Night at baseball's Fenway Park next weekend
The Premier is headed for New England next weekend to promote Bermuda Tourism at surf and turf-style sporting fixtures.
Dr. Ewart Brown flies to Massachusetts next Thursday to meet this year's participants in the Marion to Bermuda Race.
After the start of the race, Dr. Brown and Tourism Board chairman E. Michael Jones will travel to Fenway Park for the first Bermuda Night for the Boston Red Sox.
Fans entering the ground to watch the baseball fixture against the Atlanta Braves will be greeted with the sound of Gombey drums while Tourism teams hand out information on visiting Bermuda. A sky banner is also planned for the pre-game period.
2008 Bermuda Idol winner Larrita Adderley will sing the 'Star Spangled Banner' before the Premier's press secretary Glenn Jones, who worked as a TV reporter in Boston, throws out the first pitch.
Meanwhile, Bermuda Tourism promotional bags will be distributed to 840 suite patrons travel partners, airline partners and Boston-based media professionals. These will include special hotel promotions, brand merchandise and a deal from JetBlue.
Dr. Brown said: "Marketing to suite patrons provides the kind of upwardly mobile audience that is part of our target demographic. There have been weeks of planning to make sure we squeeze every possible ounce of marketing juice out of this partnership to benefit Bermuda."
He will also promote the Island during an in-game interview on the New England Sports Network.
Ironshore Re, which has offices in Bermuda and Boston, has financed the travel expenses of Miss Adderley and the Gombeys. "We are very grateful to Ironshore for its good corporate citizenship," said the Premier.
