Police are continuing their appeal for missing St. Claire McDonald Augustus.

According to officers the 55-year-old has been missing since Thursday, February 26.

"We have reason to be concerned for his well-being and would like to locate Mr. Augustus as a matter of urgency," said a Police spokesperson.

Mr. Augustus, who is of no fixed abode, was last seen in the Friswells Hill, Devonshire area.

He is known to frequent the Salvation Army on North Street in Pembroke and was sleeping in a container in that area.

Officers also continue an unrelated search for 16-year-old Travis Malcolm Lowe, also reported as missing February 26.

Said a spokesperson: "The teenager is described as light skinned, 5ft 3in tall, weighing 110 pounds with black hair."

Travis is known to frequent the Happy Valley Road Pembroke area.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of either person is asked to contact the Child Victims Unit on 295-0011.

$800 fine for cannabis possession

Frederick Eugene Trott, 45, a self-employed painter from Deepdale, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of cannabis when he appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Crown counsel Cindy Clarke told the court how Trott had been brought to Hamilton Police Station at around 8.45 p.m. on November 13, 2008, on another matter.

He was searched, and according to the Police report, a Marlboro cigarette box was found and Ms Clark described how Police found a small pink, plastic bag inside the cigarette box containing plantlike material.

Asked what it was, Trott said: "Come on man, you know it's weed."

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Trott $800.

Trott's entrepreneurial instincts kicked in at this point as he said to Mr. Warner: "Would you like one of my cards just in case you need painting up at your house?"

To which Mr. Warner replied: "No sir."

Robber takes 80-year-old's handbag

A thief grabbed a handbag from an 80-year-old as she carried it, making off with cash and personal items.

The incident took place around 6.50 a.m. on Tuesday near Clear View Suites and Villas in Hamilton Parish.

According to Police, the Hamilton Parish resident had just walked out of her home when the robbery occurred. The thief ran off in an easterly direction.

Inquiries into the incident are underway.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact the St. George's Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.

Burglars take flat screen TV

Thieves made off with a flat screen TV from a home on Harrington Sound Road in Smith's.

According to Police, the incident took place on Tuesday between 1 p.m. and 8.40 p.m. while the home was unoccupied.

Inquiries into the incident are underway.

Scholarship aimed at Ecology students

Bermudian ecologists are being encouraged to apply for a UK grant which will cover tuition, living expenses and even travel costs to England.

The scholarship is for three-years for a Bachelor's degree with Honours in Applied Ecology and Conservation at the University of Reading, in southern England.

It is open to Overseas Territory students including Bermuda. Announcing the opportunity in the House yesterday Education Minster Elvin James said the University of Reading was internationally renowned, particularly in sciences.

Addict stole DVD player

A drug addict who stole to feed his habit admitted to stealing a DVD player from P-Tech on Reid Street when he appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

The court heard from Crown counsel Cindy Clarke, that on November 18, 2008, P-Tech's photo lab manager saw Martin Webb Morris, of no fixed abode, remove a $329 portable Sony DVD player from a shelf and put it in a bag.

Morris was later identified on surveillance tape. he was arrested last week and told Police he sold the player on Court Street for drugs. Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner told Morris he had heard "the same story" from him in previous appearances and reminded him of his last appearance when he was given probation.

Morris was given six months imprisonment.
