Pilot boat picks up sick cruise passenger
A cruise liner was diverted to the coast of Bermuda last night after a senior suffered heart problems.
The 85-year-old woman was a passenger on the Eurodam cruise ship which was travelling from Port Everglades, Florida, to Ponta Delgada in the Azores.
The vessel was diverted to the Island at about 8 p.m. after the woman showed signs of acute coronary syndrome, according to a Bermuda Maritime Operations spokesman.
A pilot boat received the passenger from the vessel and took her to Ordnance Island, where an ambulance transported her for emergency treatment at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
Taxi driver robbed on Sunday
A taxi driver was robbed on Sunday evening after being attacked by a man brandishing a bladed article demanding money.
According to a Police report, the 67-year-old taxi driver was waiting for a fare in the Waterlot Inn parking lot when he was approached by an unknown man demanding money.
The suspect brandished a bladed article and demanded a cellular phone from the Warwick resident, after he told them he did not have any money.
The taxi driver was not injured, however the offender then escaped with the phone running west along Middle Road.
The suspect is described as a brown skinned male approximately 5ft 9in tall wearing a brown and yellow hooded jacked and blue jeans. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234 1010.
Probe continues into cyclist's death
Police are continuing to investigate the road death of a 79-year-old St. George's man.
Ivor Reid was involved in an accident on Friday evening when he lost control of his cycle, which crashed into a wall.
A Police spokesman said: "At this time the cause of Mr. Reid's death remains undetermined; therefore his status as Bermuda's sixth road traffic fatality is under review."
25 road accidents over the weekend
Over the weekend there were 13 reported road accidents resulting injury and 12 reported damage only road accidents.
Three people were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and five reported burglaries. There were also two vehicles reported taken without their owner's consent.
