Tourist, 66, crashes bike
An elderly tourist lost control of his rental bike and injured himself.
At 9:50 am on Monday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision on Harrington Sound Road near the junction with Paynters Road.
It appears that a rental cycle was travelling east on Harrington Sound Road when the rider, a 66-year-old Pennsylvania man, lost control and fell to the ground.
The American visitor was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of injuries to his left arm and right leg.
The rental cycle received minor damage.
Attempted handbag snatch
A Pembroke woman who fought with a would-be robber managed to keep her handbag after the man ran away.
Police received a report of an attempted handbag snatch in Pembroke on Monday night.
The victim, a 29-year-old woman told Police at 10.10 pm, she was walking along Ingham's Drive when a man came from behind and grabbed her bag.
She fought to get her bag back and screamed for help. The man left the scene without the bag.
The suspect is described as dark skinned, five foot eleven inches tall, slim build and wearing dark pants and a white T-shirt with a pattern on the front.
Police warning after road incidents
Police issued a warning after almost 50 accidents last week.
During the week of June 22 to June 29, Police recorded 15 injury collisions, 48 damage only collisions, ten arrests of suspicion of impaired driving and 27 vehicles stolen with three recovered.
The Police also reminded motorists to slow down and drive and ride with caution. Those travelling in cars should wear their seat belts at all times and children should be in car seats on use seat belts.
Those riding bikes should always fasten their helmets and not make a third lane.
