Two hit and run accidents yesterday

Drivers left the scenes of two separate road traffic collisions in Paget yesterday.

Police say that around 3.45 a.m. they attended a damage-only collision on Harbour Road in Paget, near the junction with Lovers Lane.

It appears the car was travelling west on Harbour Road when the driver lost control and collided with a wooden railing.

The car was extensively damaged, but when Police arrived on the scene the driver had already left.

Around 4.40 p.m. Police attended another collision on Middle Road in Paget near the junction with Manse Road.

In this instance the car appeared to be travelling west on Middle Road when the driver lost control and collided with a wall.

The driver, whose car was badly damaged, also fled the scene.

Inquiries into both incidents are underway.

Burglar steals keys – then takes car

A car was taken from a Pembroke home during the height of Hurricane Bill.

Police said that sometime between 10 p.m. on Friday and 7.30 a.m. on Saturday someone broke into a Crane Lane home, taking the owner's handbag and car keys. The person got away in the homeowner's beige coloured Mazda 323 hatchback, license plate 19042.

Police are appealing for witnesses and asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of the car to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Teen rode stolen cycle

A 16-year-old Sandys parish man pleaded guilty to knowingly riding a stolen motorcycle after colliding with an unmarked Police car.

Rahem Burgess told Magistrates' Court that he was riding the vehicle, but said that he did not steal it.

According to prosecutor Takiyah Burgess, the blue Suzuki was taken from outside Supreme Court on June 24.

However, the bike did not remain missing for long. The next day, the vehicle was involved in a collision with an unmarked police car.

Burgess reportedly fled the scene, but was later arrested at his job.

Mr. Warner ordered a social inquiry report, and ordered Burgess to return to court on October 13. He was released on $2,000 bail.
