Breaking News: Bermuda's roads claim 13th victim

A 40-year-old man died after his motorcycle lost control on a sharp bend, Police said this morning.

At about 1.20 p.m. yesterday, Police said Tennison Fernando, of Southampton, was on his motorcyle travelling east on South Road when he lost control trying to negotiate a sharp left hand bend.

As a result he fell to the ground and slid into the westbound lane, where he was struck by another motorbike heading in the opposite direction.

Mr. Fernando was rushed to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, but pronounced dead this morning.

The rider of the other motorcycle, a 29-year-old Warwick woman and her female pillion passenger were not injured.

His death is the thirteenth fatality on Bermuda’s roads this year.
