Butterfield heads party at CPA meeting in Guyana
Culture Minister Neletha Butterfield has led a Bermuda delegation to a regional conference in Guyana.
Former Premier Dame Jennifer Smith and United Bermuda Party Senator Michael Fahy joined Ms Butterfield at the 34th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Caribbean, Americas and Atlantic Regional Conference this week. It focused on issues such as socioeconomic and political matters that threaten to hinder the region's development.
Topics included: the global economic crisis and its consequences for the region; dealing with the social impact of economic crisis; environment and climate change; and challenges of public safety and security. Bermuda made presentations on 'Dealing with the Social Impact of Economic Crisis' and 'Strengthening Parliaments within the Region' in front of about 20 other countries from the CPA.
