anti-drugs meeting this weekend.

Casey Wade, Director of Policy and Programmes Doping Control at the Canadian Centre for Drug Free Sport, will participate in the first of several meetings organised by the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Recreation to "develop solutions to the problems of drug abuse in sport''.

At the meeting, scheduled to be held on Saturday at the Bermuda College's Stonington Campus, beginning at 8.30 a.m., Wade will discuss the prevention of doping in Canadian sport.

According to a statement from the Ministry, he has "extensive experience in his field'' and he has given similar talks around the world.

Youth and Sport Minister Pam Gordon said: "Our goal is to eradicate drugs from sport and I'm sure Mr. Wade's talk will assist us greatly.

"I'm urging all sporting bodies to send representatives to this most important forum...'' The meeting will also be the first of several designed to allow sporting bodies and clubs to discuss the recently-released board of inquiry report.

The soccer board of inquiry, chaired by Sir John Sharpe, followed the arrest in Miami last year of seven members of Bermuda's Under 23 soccer team on drug charges.

Those wishing to attend Saturday's meeting are asked to register with the Youth and Sport Ministry.
