Car-jack e-mail is bogus
Police are warning about a bogus e-mail warning people to be on the lookout for car-jackers.
The e-mail, which originated from overseas, says a piece of white paper is stuck to the rear window of cars parked in a parking lot.
When the driver gets in, reverses and spots it, they stop the car and get out to remove the piece of paper – when the car-jackers are meant to pounce.
A Police spokesman said: "The Bermuda Police Service is aware of an e-mail currently circulating around the Island warning against 'carjacking' and a particular method criminals are said to use.
"Though in some cases the e-mail refers to this activity occurring in Bermuda, the e-mail itself almost certainly originated overseas and no incidents of this nature have been reported to the Bermuda Police Service"
