Mr. Hartley Watlington said he saw the cat lying on Cedar Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. The cat had apparently been struck by a vehicle, but was still moving, he said.

Mr. Watlington notified the office of veterinary surgeon Dr. Maureen Ware and Dr. J.K. (Ghent) Cieters rushed to the scene to retrieve the cat, he said. It suffered a concussion but is now fine, he said.

The cat, which is at the veterinarian's office, is still looking for its owner. It is a female, about nine months old, with a white underbelly, tan along the back, and grey and tan around the head.
