The wife of the artist responsible for several of the bronze sculptures around the Island including that of Johnny Barnes, stopped the theft of one of his pieces from a London gallery.

Desmond Fountain's wife Luli noticed that one of the bronzes worth £5,000 was missing yesterday in The Gallery, which is in London's Cork Street.0

She grabbed one man she suspected of taking the statue and even became "quite forceful" Mr. Fountain said.

Eventually, the man was wrestled to the floor and pinned down by four people until Police arrived. Another man escaped.
