A man was fined $1,000 in Magistrates' Court for driving drunk last December.

Senior Crown Counsel Paula Tyndale said that 28-year-old Balaji Arajendran was travelling east near Tanglewood Road in Paget when Police noticed him driving in an erratic manner. When they stopped him they noticed he was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol.

When Police asked Arajendran if he had been drinking, he replied: "I had one or two drinks."

Arajendran told them he just left a Christmas party in Somerset but refused the breathalyser test twice. He was then arrested.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Arajendran $1,000, disqualified him from driving for 12 months and issued him ten demerit points.
