Georgia murder trial postponed
The case of four males charged with killing Bermudian Sherlene 'Star' Church and her husband Jerry Church in Georgia, USA, has been postponed until January next year.
Gage Q Bryant, 13, Derek Mitchell Cox, 19, Richard J Strickland Jr, 16 and Kevin Thomas McKay, 21, all pleaded not guilty to the murder, aggravated assault, battery, robbery, burglary and theft of the couple at an arraignment session earlier this month.
The two minors, Bryant and Strickland, will be tried as adults and a fifth man, Joshua Douglas Pounds, 23, also appeared with the four, and was charged with theft, burglary and two charges of concealing the death of another person.
The 23-year-old, however, was not charged with the murders.
Mr. and Mrs. Church's bodies were discovered by Police on Sunday, June 29, kicked and stamped to death in their Georgia home. The couple had married last December.
All five charged will remain in custody until the new term for the Harris County Superior Court beginning in January.
