Get the right figures before you speak, Bean tells Dunkley
Junior Tourism Minister Marc Bean has chastised Senator Michael Dunkley for quoting inaccurate figures in the media saying that his comments could be detrimental to the country's development.
Earlier this month, Sen. Dunkley commented on the Love Festival figures stating that it cost $500,000 but brought in just 40 people.
He said: "I heard people were just walking in. We need to stop spending on parties for people in the loop and spend the money on advertising in our major markets where it matters."
Last week Senate Sen. Bean reported that the Love Festival cost $150,000 and brought in 98 visitors.
On Friday, Sen. Bean addressed the comments from Sen. Dunkley. He said: "If curiosity kills the cat, then hearsay, innuendo and gossip will not only kill an industry, it will destroy our nation. As such, I encourage members of the legislature and the press, to govern themselves accordingly."
