Gun charge men appear in court

Accused: Michael Eversley, 27, (left) and Marcus Bean, (right) 28, charged with possession of a gun.

Two men arrested on Friday for possession of a gun and marijuana appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Michael Zephaniah Eversley, 27, of Middle Town Road, Pembroke, and Marcus Shawn Bean, 28, of Redcoat Lane, St. George's, did not enter pleas as the charges are indictable and the case will go to Supreme Court.

They are both charged with being in possession of a Tallon T 200, nine millimetre pistol on Friday, having seven rounds of nine millimetre metal jacket ammunition and possession of marijuana.

Bean, who is currently not represented by counsel, was charged with a second charge of possession of marijuana.

Eversley, who is represented by defence lawyer Elizabeth Christopher, and Bean, were then remanded in custody by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner until June 17 for mention in plea court.

On a separate matter, Bean was required to pay an outstanding fine of $2,000 which dates back to September 2005 for two charges of possession of marijuana.

The 28-year-old also had an outstanding fine of $400 for failure to attend military duty.

He was ordered by Mr. Warner to pay the fines immediately or face two, three-month sentences to be served consecutively.
