Imagine the words of Shakespeare healing the community

Imagine Bermuda has coordinated an interfaith weekend to discuss the increase of violence plaguing the Island.

Various churches and church groups are being asked to use the theme "To err is human' in their services over the weekend.

A statement said: "As a part of the response to the challenges to our island home, which have manifested in a cycle of violence over many months, a number of representatives from the faith community and other community groups have explored further ways of helping to promote Reconciliation, Reconnection and Restoration in Bermuda. In this process coordinated by Imagine Bermuda we have been developing a number of approaches."

It continued: "One of these is for as many of our churches and other faith groups to coordinate in addressing a common theme for the second weekend of September.

"This will be 'To Err is Human'' which, of course, is a quote from Shakespeare which speaks to an important reality about each of us, helping us recognise our connections."

The group is also encouraging members of various congregations to share personal stories on the theme.

"Reminding each other that we all make mistakes can help us in regarding each other with an increased sense of reverence", the statement said.

"It is also our hope that this effort becomes an invitation to those who are most involved in this tragic cycle to see that while they may feel trapped, that life offers opportunities to use our errors as stepping stones that provide a way forward."

Churches who will be participating include African Methodist Episcopal, Anglican, Methodist, New Testament Church of God, Roman Catholic, Salvation Army and Seventh-Day Adventist.
