Electronics and jewellery were stolen from a Smith's home after a thief broke in while nobody was home.

The victims told Police that they had locked up their Broken Hill home before they left on Thursday morning, but when they came back that evening, several items had been taken.

Among the stolen items were a Toshiba laptop, a black Olympus 510 Camera, a white gold and ruby ring, a charm bracelet and cash.

Anyone with information about the break in is asked to call the Police at 295-0011.

Driver arrested on suspicion of impaired driving

A man was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired yesterday. Police officers on North Shore Road, in Hamilton Parish, noticed a man travelling on a motorcycle at high speed at around 3.30 a.m.

Officers pulled the man over, and suspected that the rider was driving while impaired. He was taken to the Hamilton Police Station, where he subsequently failed a breath test.

A Police spokesman reminded the public not to drink and drive, saying: "Police will be very vigilant for this offence."
