tailgate of a Government truck became wrapped around his body and dragged him to the ground.

The 53-year-old man was working on a cable at St. John's Road, Pembroke when he was pulled from the "bucket'' of his van. He suffered cuts to his face and head and possible broken ribs.

He was recovering in the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital yesterday evening from injuries, described by a Police spokesman as serious but not life threatening.

The accident occurred after 10 a.m. yesterday morning when a Government truck turned right from St. John's Road into Bakery Lane.

As it was turning, the cable became caught in the tailgate and wrapped around the employee. As the driver kept going, the cable steadily tightened around the man.
