The boat owner's wife notified Harbour Radio just after midnight on Monday when she became worried, a spokesman said yesterday.

Me and the Boys -- which has its moorings at Jew's Bay in Southampton -- was found nearby, off Five Star Island shortly afterward.

During a routine search of the vessel, it was discovered the crew did not have a radio nor did they file a float plan.

In response to the incident, a Harbour Radio spokesman warned the public to "always carry safety gear and take the opportunity to file all the necessary float plans''.

Burgess, 20, of Westwood Land, Pembroke has denied three drug offences in connection with the theft of a drug exhibit from a Supreme Court vault in 1995.

She has denied possessing heroin, supplying the drug and handling it with intent to supply.

The heroin came from a drugs trial during which Ghanaian Jeffrey Kwasi Osborne was aquitted of importing the drugs into Bermuda.

At the end of the trial, court clerk Shawn Crockwell stole the heroin exhibit and earned $24,000 from its sale.

He was later caught and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The prosecution was set to continue its case yesterday but the matter was adjourned after it was learned that Burgess was ill.
