Pink Beach Club cottages damaged by heavy surf
One of the few venues to suffer major damage from Hurricane Igor was the Pink Beach Club cottage colony in Hamilton Parish.
Storm waves surged right into at least two of the cottages at the edge of the ocean on the South Shore.
They caused severe structural damage and left the interiors littered with rocks, sand and seaweed. Decorative columns that marked the shore's edge were ripped off the wall and thrown around 20 feet.
Dal Vasconcelos, owner of DV Construction, arrived at the site to assess the damage yesterday morning.
"I don't think anyone was staying here. I think they moved them to another hotel," he said.
Mr. Vasconcelos said the damage could be fixed, but it was too early to say how long that would take or how much it would cost.
No one could be reached at the club yesterday as the telephone number was out of service.
