Police officers weed out marijuana plot
Fifteen cannabis plants some more than six feet tall were seized by Police yesterday on land in Somerset.
Police received information that the plants were growing and said they responded as part of their "proactive policing" initiative.
Yesterday's seizure took place just after 7 a.m. on Cochrane Road near the Albert Row part two housing complex, just before Dockyard.
The crop of cannabis plants were growing on a patch of land surrounded by bushes.
Some of the leaves were as big as a human hand and a number of the plants were taller than six feet.
It was the second seizure in the past three weeks in the first 18 plants were removed from a Curving Avenue residence.
A Police spokesman said: "Police went on the raid in the morning. It was in a response to information received. It's in conjunction with Police being proactive.
"It is the second retrieval of marijuana plants in the last three weeks. The last one was on Curving Avenue."
The spokesman continued: "Anyone who may see someone acting suspicious should call the Police or Crimestoppers."
He said two weeks ago, the plants removed from Curving Avenue were also from information received.
