Mr. Grant Forbes, son of deputy Commissioner Mr. Alex Forbes, is scheduled to appear on January 11.

It is understood the charge is connected to an early-morning incident in July in which a car ran into the sea off Malabar Road.

Two passengers were taken to hospital. One had to be rescued from the almost-submerged car.

A motorist driving in front of the car saw the incident and jumped into the water and freed the passenger from the back seat.
