Italy's Consul General in New York recently held talks with Government officials over the issue of Bermuda passport holders needing visas to visit some European Union countries.

Francesco M. Talo, whose rank in the Italian Foreign Service is Minister Plenipotentiary, has jurisdiction for consular matters for Bermuda, and his first official visit on the Island was organised by the Honorary Consul of Italy in Bermuda Gioacchino Di Meglio.

During his June visit, Minister Talo and Mr. Di Meglio had meetings with the Premier, Dr. Ewart Brown, as well as the Deputy Governor Mark Capes.

With the Premier and other personalities, Consul General Talo also discussed the issue of visas and he was informed of the work being done to possibly avoid such a necessity by getting a special stamp in a Bermudian passport.

Holders of British passports – to which all Bermudians are entitled – do not require visas.
