Premier's son arrested in Los Angeles
Premier Ewart Brown is standing by his son who has been arrested in Los Angeles in a Police sting after a year-long investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a patient.
Dr. Kevin Antario Brown, 37, was arrested by detectives after an 18-year-old female reported to Police in June 2007 that she was inappropriately touched during a medical examination by Dr. Brown.
Detectives conducted an undercover operation where a female undercover operator posing as a patient was also inappropriately touched during a medical exam, according to a press statement by LA Police.
Detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Sex Crime Unit, resulting in the $50,000 warrant being issued and multiple felony and misdemeanour charges being filed. The charges against Dr. Brown relate to sexual battery by fraud and sexual exploitation by a physician. Dr. Brown was taken into custody without incident by the Fugitive Warrant Section on Tuesday morning.
Detectives are appealing for more witnesses.
Yesterday, the Premier, via his press secretary, said: "I have been in touch with him and he denies the charges and we trust that he will be exonerated."
