Jason Liburd, of North Shore, Devonshire, stole the parts hoping to sell them.

But he had only made $200 when Police caught up with him.

Liburd, who has a "terrible record'', admitted stealing the parts when he appeared in Magistrates' Court.

Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, told the court that Christina Davis reported a Yamaha V50 bike stolen from outside her workplace last July.

It was found stripped six weeks later, near Elliott Street in Hamilton.

Liburd was arrested and the majority of the parts recovered, said Insp. Duffy.

"If given the chance I'll pay the property back to whoever it belongs to,'' Liburd told the court.

Senior magistrate the Wor. Will Francis said: "I take your youth into consideration, but you have got what can only be described as a terrible record.

"On top of that, this is a serious offence because there is far too much of it in the Island.

"People dare not leave their cycle alone almost anywhere now. They can hardly even leave it in their yard, or it gets stolen.'' He sentenced Liburd to four months, to run after a sentence he is already serving.
