Producer of first Bermuda Festival of the Arts, Jack Manning dies at 93

Actor, director, and producer of the first Bermuda Festival of the Arts, Jack Manning has died.Mr. Manning, 93, died of natural causes in his California home on August 31.Before coming to Bermuda as a director to film 'The Voice of the Turtle,' Mr. Manning had become known for his work as an actor in various radio plays, including 'The Green Hornet' and 'The Shadow' while working on stage on Broadway.

Actor, director, and producer of the first Bermuda Festival of the Arts, Jack Manning has died.

Mr. Manning, 93, died of natural causes in his California home on August 31.

Before coming to Bermuda as a director to film 'The Voice of the Turtle,' Mr. Manning had become known for his work as an actor in various radio plays, including 'The Green Hornet' and 'The Shadow' while working on stage on Broadway.

He met his wife, Frances Ann Smith, on the Island, and together the pair brought a number of plays with New York casts to Bermuda.

Mr. Manning moved to the west coast in 1970, and performed as an actor in shows such as 'Bonanza' and 'Sanford and Son', and movies including The 'Owl and the Pussycat'.
