Bonnie Smith said: "I am a teacher myself and I have to say I'm very pleased with what Purvis is doing. I have a seven-year-old son there.

"Whereas most schools were mandated to have smaller class sizes Purvis always had smaller class sizes which bodes well for one-on-one interaction.

"I always find teachers there positive and caring.

"Quite a few parents don't go as a result of things that happened in the past but I don't know why they don't attend now.

"It's a very clean school which educates the total child.

"They've got an exhibit up there which demonstrates a wide variety of learning styles. It's a basic school -- they do a job and they do it well.'' Her views were echoed by fellow Purvis parent Roslyn P. Amory.

She said: "Purvis Primary is definitely not a bad school as stated in the article.

"I am sure I can speak for many parents who sent their children to Purvis Primary -- it is an excellent school! My children's educational needs are being met at Purvis Primary.'' She added that the teachers and support staff were professional, caring, approachable, and strict, but loving.

Mrs. Amory continued: "When you go on the campus it is clean. There is an environment conducive for learning.

"I go there during the school hours and wonder if students are in the building, it's so quiet.

"There are several programmes during the school year which the parents are encouraged to participate in.'' "The classroom size is small, which I appreciate. I know that my children get to spend some quality time with their teachers and there is a school library.''
