Journalist Owain Johnston-Barnes is the winner of this year's Golden Inkwell for his play, 'Cockroaches'.
It was one of six finalists in the Bermuda Musical & Dramatic Society's annual playwriting competition, 'Famous for 15 Minutes'.
In the opinion of visiting judge Ian August, Mr. Johnston's play best met all of the criteria he sought; was "clever and sweet" and demonstrated a firm reality in its two characters.
This is the second time Mr. Johnston-Barnes, a reporter at The Royal Gazette, has won the competition, the first being in 2008 with his play, 'Inter-Mortem'.
In addition to having his name inscribed on the Golden Inkwell plaque, the amateur playwright received a cash prize of $200.
