Photo: Rosemary JonesBig catch: Dr. Saul holds the replica oarfish he has created from cedar wood. It will now be displayed at the BAMZ.
It's a monster from the deep, rarely seen and thought to be little more than a sailors' myth until one was washed up at Hungry Bay, in Paget, 150 years ago.
The weird appearance of the "sea serpent-like" oarfish is the thing of nightmares for many people.
But former Premier Dr. David Saul is proving to have a certain affinity for them, and has completed a second life-like carved replica of one of the giant fish from a gnarled piece of cedar, with a lot of hours of work.
