'Slave syndrome' film well attended

Movie: 'Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome', which attracted 450 viewers over two screenings last weekend.

More than 450 people turned out to watch the documentary "Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome" by Joy DeGruy-Leary.

It was shown in two viewings – the first at the BUEI last Saturday, sponsored by the National Association of Reconciliation (NAR), and the second screening at the Liberty Theatre last Sunday, sponsored by the Bermuda Race Relations Initiative, in conjunction with the (NAR).

Rolfe Commissiong, consultant to the Premier Ewart Brown, said: "This unprecedented demand for Dr. DeGruy's work validates our decision to support Dr. Eva Hodgson's recommendation to show the film."

Dr. DeGruy-Leary is scheduled to given a talk this Friday at the Berkeley Institute Auditorium beginning at 7 p.m.
