Teens queried over fishing boat
night -- are being interviewed in connection with Sunday night's boat wrecking at Devonshire Bay, a Police spokeswoman confirmed last night.
She said the two teenagers, Kenneth Boyles, 14, and Cannoth Roberts, 16, returned to the children's homes they ran away from late on Monday night.
Boyles returned on his own, but Roberts was escorted back by Police after they spotted him in Sandys Parish at about 11 p.m., the spokeswoman said.
Meanwhile, Police are continuing to investigate the theft and wrecking of a boat at Devonshire Bay, apparently by two young boys who took it out for a joyride.
Photographs of the missing boys were shown to Devonshire Bay residents on Monday, but no one was able to definitely identify them as the ones who took Mr. Arthur (Boyd) Ray's fishing boat Sandi-L , the spokeswoman said.
Although several residents saw the two boys fiddling with the fishing boat and then driving it out to sea, no one saw them return.
But despite fears for their safety from Mr. Ray, Police do not believe they drowned. The Police spokeswoman said there has not been any evidence that they did.
She added no search and rescue operation involving divers was planned, although one diver went down on Sunday morning.
Mr. Ray, a commercial fisherman, said he is facing a cash crisis now that his $25,000 fishing boat is wrecked.
Looking at the remains of his boat, strewn along the reefs between Devonshire Bay and Ariel Sands on Monday, Mr. Ray said he would buy another boat abroad and hopefully have it ready for the lobster season.
