James Collieson, 19, of York Street, St. George's, was speeding east along Mullet Bay Rd. at 3.40 a.m., on June 23, when a stationary Police car, flagged him down.

Collieson, who played for the Bermuda tennis team in the Davis Cup in El Salvador in March and is one of the Island's leading young players, was stopped in a driveway and on speaking with him, the Police smelled intoxicants.

When questioned he replied he had had two beers.

When Police asked him to put his bike on the stand he appeared unsteady on his feet.

Police took Collieson to Hamilton Police Station for a breathalyser test where it was discovered he had 153 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.

The legal limit is 80 milligrames of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Magistrate Cheryl-Ann Mapp fined him $450 and disqualified him from all vehicles for 12 months.
