Three arrested on suspicion of impaired driving

Three people were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving after they were involved in accidents early Sunday morning.

Police were called to an accident on Somerset Road at approximately 3.40 a.m.

According to reports, a car travelling east and an auxiliary cycle headed in the opposite direction collided near the road's junction with the Railway Trail at Somerset Bridge.

The rider of the cycle, a 17-year-old Warwick woman, sustained cuts and abrasions to her feet and legs. She was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

Police attended another traffic accident on Middle Road in Southampton, near Rebecca Road, approximately two hours later.

The driver of the car, a 33-year-old Southampton woman, was travelling west when she lost control of the vehicle and collided with a wall. She too was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

The third traffic accident at the junction of Middle Road and Store Hill in Smith's parish occured shortly after.

The driver of a car travelling east attempted to negotiate a left hand bend, lost control and collided with a wall. The man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving, and detained after failing the breathalyser test.

Inquires into all three incidents are underway.
