Trio charged with spate of robberies are denied bail
Three teenagers accused of four robberies in Hamilton on the same night will stand trial on June 15.
Tyevon Bean, 19, Dennzel Crockwell, 16, and Ajani Albouy-Lovell, 18, are said to have robbed two British businessmen as they walked towards the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on February 5.
They are accused of stealing $220 from one of them, Richard Godfrey, and £50 from the other, Donald Cargill.
A second charge alleges that they robbed Vincent Gomes of a wallet containing $500 in Church Street.
The final charge accuses the trio of attacking Nepalese guest worker Sobin Magar in Park Road and taking goods to the value of $600. These included an Apple iPod and case, M3 Wireless Internet receiver, Motorola cell phone, a green bag, four pens and a wristlet.
Bean, of Sunset Mews, Pembroke, Crockwell, of Cochrane Road, Sandys, and Albouy-Lovell of Spicery Road, Warwick, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner denied them bail, saying: "This allegation is that these young men went around and attacked in a thuggish way."
Bean was remanded to Westgate and the other two to Co-Ed until their two-day trial.
A fourth youth is alleged to have joined in the robberies, and is being dealt with by the juvenile court.
